Programme
At the School Of Discipleship, we give great attention to a broad biblical curriculum. Knowing that students come from different denominational backgrounds we have decided to give some introductions towards the curriculum, this way you will have some idea of what to expect. We aim to give a broad biblical perspective in which you have the freedom to make up your mind. Scroll down to take a look at the programme and all that will be offered during the year. Are you ready to join?
Identity in Christ
13-15 September
In this first weekend, we will take a deep dive into Identity. Are we who we say we are? Do we actually know who we are? Just some questions to get things started. Jesus gives us the perfect example in Matthew 4 of how to respond to such questions. This weekend we will also be a team-building gathering. Get to know those with whom you will be on your side for the upcoming year.
Introduction into Hermeneutics
11-13 Oktober
We all read the Bible, but do we all understand that which we are reading? This weekend you'll get an introduction into hermeneutics, an academic word for interpretation. You'll learn how to apply solid hermeneutical tools in your bible study, see the importance of this often-neglected skill, and be more hungry for God's word after seeing it's richness.
Worship & Prayer
8-10 November
The third weekend will be solely focused on your heart. Setting your focus on heavenly things. You'll learn the differents between coming from a place of work or a place of rest. Take a look at the right motives for entering the throne room of God. Having an intimate relationship with Jesus. Looking at some biblical examples such as Saul, David and Salomon. Where do they differ and what do they have in common?
The Gospels
27-29 December
After setting the standard, now the time has come to engage our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on a deeper level. In this first of a three-part serie, we will dive deep into the gospels to take a close look at the life of Christ. The start of His ministry, His focus and His message. After this week you will be hungry for the next two weekends. This weekend there will also be the possibility to join the End Of The Year worship gathering.
Jesus in the NT
17-19 January
From the Gospels we move to the rest of the New Testament. Where do we see Jesus and how did His message influence people such as Paul, James and John? Together we'll look at how the early church was focused on Jesus in worship, prayer and deed. All with the same expectation, His final return. To close we too will look forward to the second coming of Christ and see what the Book of Revelation teaches us about Jesus.
Jesus in the OT
14-16 February
To close the three-part series we now turn our attention to the Old Testament. We see Jesus on the first page of the Bible, but, as you'll find out, not only there. You'll learn how to see the deeper layer within the Old Testament that shows us the first coming of Christ, and the work that was set out for Him. How do Moses, Joseph, David and many others pre-depict Christ? By now you'll be able to use great resources to help you study more in depth.
The work of the cross
14-16 March
Every Christian knows about the work of the cross. But do we all comprehend the depth of its work? This weekend we'll focus on the seven wonders of the cross. Coming to a deeper understanding of the marvellous work of Jesus fulfilled. This weekend we also dive deep into Communion. Why did Jesus give us this assignment and how do we fulfill it? What is its importance and beauty of it? All questions that will be discussed.
The Holy Spirit
11-13 April
As we approach Pentecost we will focus on the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit. Essential to our Christian faith is the empowerment of our life through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit. The indwelling of the Spirit of God changed history forever. How is this important to your life and especially to disciple-making? Prepare for a weekend that will be powerful from start to finish. We'll cover topics such as His personality, gifts and fruits.
The fear of the Lord
16-18 May
A reverent fear of the Lord is essential in our Christian life. For this reason, we devote an entire weekend to this topic. As you'll find out, we can only fear someone for the measure we know them. This is most true for our Heavenly Father. Taking a good look at the attributes of the Father will help us greatly in understanding Him. As our reverence grows for the Father it will change our priorities helping us to grow in intimacy and wisdom.
Disciple Making
6-8 June
Finally, we can talk about disciple-making. The great assignment given by Jesus becomes the focal point in this last weekend of the School Of Discipleship. Now the time has come for you to go out and make disciples for yourselves. Teaching others all that you have learned in the past year. This weekend will also be the graduation weekend. Get ready to go out and multiply.
And more...
You'll not only have the opportunity to learn from pastors, teachers and disciple-makers but there will be room for personal talks, questions and answers, ministry and much more. Putting into practice what you'll learn, might be the most important fact during the whole school year. For this reason, you can expect assignments, practical classes and personal character-building to be part of the programme.
